With just a couple of weeks to go before Romero Week 2017 begins, there are new additions to the events taking place to mark this special anniversary of Blessed Oscar Romero's martyrdom in this his Centenary Year.

Sunday, 19 March at 11am
Liverpool is one of the only dioceses around the world to have marked the anniversary of the death of Romero every year since the tragic day in March 1980. This year, the annual Mass will take place in the Cathedral of Christ the King, concelebrated by the Archbishop of Liverpool, Malcolm McMahon OP. Fr Jim O'Keefe from the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle will preach. At the end of the service, the Archbishop will bless a new statue which will be installed in the cathedral later this year. Friday, 24 March at 7pm
On the anniversary itself there is the chance to watch the new play about the life of Romero, written and performed by RISE Theatre. 'Romero - Heartbeat of El Salvador' will be performed at All Saints Church in Sale, M33 5WL at 7pm. Donations of £5+ will be collected on the door. Organised by CAFOD Shrewsbury.
Saturday, 25 March at 2pm
In Salford Diocese, the Justice and Peace Association (Caritas, Diocese of Salford) will be holding their annual commemoration at Sacred Heart, Colne. The speaker will be Fr Jim O'Keefe. Tea/coffee from 1.30pm, talk at 2pm. Mass at 3pm.
