The March edition of Assumpta, the magazine of the Carmelite Third Order in the British Province, is dedicated to his memory. It features a number of articles reflecting on Romero's links with Carmel and its spirituality, including Monseñor's homily on the feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in 1977. Archbishop Romero was shot on 24th March 1980 whilst celebrating Mass in the chapel of a cancer hospice run by the Carmelite Sisters in San Salvador. The Carmelite Brown Scapular he was wearing is among the relics prized by the people of his nation.
